2019 CONFERENCE PROGRAM

Domestic violence among LGBTQ couples is just as prevalent as among non-LGBTQ couples, but unique dynamics and barriers have resulted in an invisibility of the issue of LGBTQ domestic violence. That invisibility has the potential to lead to further victimization of survivors by the justice system and the legal process. This training will examine domestic violence in the LGBTQ community. The workshop will include an overview of LGBTQ demographic information, including the presence of LGBTQ families in the justice system, focusing on specific LGBTQ domestic violence information, including specific tactics of abuse against LGBTQ people, and barriers and challenges for LGBTQ survivor litigants.
