NCTE "Failing to Protect and Serve Report" - What does it mean and what can we do?

In May 2019, the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE)_ published a report that graded 25 major U.S. cities in 17 different categories, all related to how they deal with interactions with members of the transgender community. This workshop seeks to review the report, analyze its strengths and weaknesses, and stimulate a dialogue surrounding the issues raised by the report. Brett Parson, of the Metropolitan Police Department - Washington, D.C. will lead the workshop. He will briefly review its findings, but the majority of the time will be spent engaging those in attendance in a moderated discussion about the report's underlying motivation and how member's of Law Enforcement can use the report to guide and/or motivate their agencies to improve upon policies, procedures, and protocols, therefore leading to a stronger relationship with members of the transgender community who live, work, or visit their jurisdiction.
